Robert Lee Fitzgerald was a talented craftsman, he with the help of his sons, Moses and Berry, built the home on the North Fork of Tye River circa 1900. The timbers were hand hewn and the shingles split from cedar. Robert’s wife, Ella Wise, made the split bottom seats from the chairs that Robert made. She also made all the brooms with the broomcorn they grew.
